Though my children’s baby years are starting to feel like a distant memory, I do remember that I breastfed each of my kids for a year. During that time, I shared a ton of nursing-related hints. Today’s hint is a roundup of the most popular ones, as measured by readership traffic.
1. Frugally store frozen breast milk (hint: this trick involves ice cube trays).
4. Keep an extra set of pumping supplies at work (plus three other pumping hacks for working moms).
5. Get creative with bottle labeling (plus four more tips for pumping moms).
6. Know about reusable breast pumps.
7. Buy bras that work for nursing and pumping. (One such product that should be on nursing moms’ radar: the Simple Wishes Supermom All-in-One Nursing and Pumping Bra. It’s a maternity, nursing and hands-free pumping bra for just under $50. Simple Wishes is giving away two Supermom bras to Hint Mama readers – enter to win one below.)
8. Know how to get a free breast pump.
9. Keep older siblings occupied during baby feeding time with a “feeding bag”.
10. Go for a nursing cover that works for much more than breastfeeding.

I would encourage new moms to not give up on breastfeeding. It’s tough to get the hang of it at first (even with each new baby you have!), but once it comes, it’s so rewarding.

I would love to win these for my wife! Her best tip is not to put too much pressure on herself because that will cause necessary stress and make the breastfeeding experience less pleasurable! And if you are unable to breastfeed, do not feel guilty!

My best nursing hint is to always stay hydrated! Invest in a good nursing pillow that has a pocket for snacks and water. It makes it so much easier to nurse when everything you need is within reach.
