Once my daughter made the transition out of her baby bath to the regular tub, I quickly realized that we would need some kind of bathroom storage container for her bath toys. So I decided on a cute $19 red bucket from Pottery Barn Kids.
As I was checking out, I debated whether to have the company write “Toys” on it or nothing at all. But ultimately, I couldn’t resist paying an additional $7 for the pail to say “Bath Toys.”
Boy was that a mistake. Once I started using the bucket as a storage unit, it became obvious it wasn’t made of the best material for storing wet toys. While the galvanized metal was designed not to rust, the wet toys seemed to be doing something to the bucket’s painted bottom. So we ended up getting a special Munchkin bath toy storage product. And unfortunately, the Pottery Barn Kids bucket, now storing toys in my daughter’s living room play area, still says “Bath Toys”
This is why today’s hint is to think twice when you’re about to pay to personalize a storage container, or anything else for that matter.
You never know when you’ll want to change the purpose of an already labeled item. And often times, it’s not possible to return a personalized item. Pottery Barn Kids, for instance, doesn’t accept returns of monogrammed or personalized items. To be sure, personalizing is a great idea in some situations, like for baby gifts and other presents, but I’d suggest skipping the extra labeling fees in other instances.
What advice do you have when it comes to personalizing items?

This to happened to me with toy bins, however I personalized their names. When my oldest child no longer needed them I tried to use them for my youngest child. She was not having it! So I upcyced the bins into my oldest son’s book shelves and I purchased non – personalized containers for my youngest. I plan on keeping them for me to put them in the closet when she is done with them.

If that’s the case then you could separate the wet toys from the dry ones. There cheap plastic containers at Walmart that you can use.
